Man dies from industrial injury outside of Saginaw

A steel worker was killed recently at a plant outside Saginaw, Michigan. According to reports, the Buena Vista Fire Department and the Buena Vista Police Department were dispatched to Peerless Steel around 9:45 p.m. Once on the scene, the emergency personnel discovered that one of the plant's employees had been crushed by steel that had rolled onto him. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the incident, there was no additional information available about the cause of this industrial injury and resulting fatality. The industrial accident was another tragic reminder of the dangers many local workers confront each and every day.

Across Michigan, industrial workers face the fear of a workplace injury every morning when they clock in. While safety precautions may be put in place, these tireless workers know that a momentary lapse in judgment or a minor equipment malfunction could result in serious or severe injuries.

Altruistically, these workers are usually less worried about their own welfare than that of their families. But an injury, even a minor one, can limit or eliminate a person's ability to work. As a result, an injured worker may be overcome with helplessness as family members struggle to get by.

Michigan's legislators have recognized the inherent injustice facing local workers. These individuals put their lives and bodies on the line so their employers can turn a profit. It is only fair, then, that an injured worker is able to recoup some of those funds through workers' compensation in order to alleviate the financial detriment caused by simply doing one's job.
